What's the difference between the available learning content?

️Skills are real piano power-ups packed into short, punchy video lessons for quick a-ha moments. They help you master new techniques and level up your playing with ease.

Learning books are professionally designed books for exercises and focused learning. With clear structures, they support piano learning and skill growth at any level.

Worksheets are focused learning aids that strengthen your skills. They often have exercises or tasks to help you go deeper and lock in what you’ve learned.

Which materials should I use for learning and practicing?

That depends on what you like and how you learn best.

If you find it easiest to learn when you listen and watch, then our video courses or our Skills are perfect for you. Here, you learn from teachers either in longer, connected video courses, or with short, focused lessons on specific topics with the Skills.

If you prefer to read your learning material, then our lesson books are your go-to. The material is structured and written by experienced piano teachers and pros. They give you a clear path for any level, whether you’re brand new to the piano or already have skills. Worksheets are also for working through on your own, and focus more on exercises or pieces.

Another thing is the focus or the length of the content. Skills and worksheets usually focus on one topic and are just a few minutes or pages long. So, perfect for a quick input or targeted knowledge building. Video courses and method books are longer resources that take a few hours, but they are structured so you can also work through them step by step.

Are all learning materials available for every subscription option?

No. That’s the biggest difference between OKTAV Playing and OKTAV Learning. Video courses and skills are only included with OKTAV Learning. Method books and worksheets are also included in OKTAV Playing.

Where can I find the individual learning contents?

You'll find them in the menu under “Learn”.

Depending on your OKTAV subscription, you’ll find all learning content (OKTAV Learning) or only learning books and worksheets (OKTAV Playing).

What should I start with as a complete beginner?

On the learning overview page (menu “Learn”) you’ll see 6 learning topics. Under the topic “First Steps and Note Reading” you’ll find all the stuff that’s best if you’re just starting and have no background.
